Q: What is the difference between a Murphy Bed, Wall
bed, Sleep and Store bed and Hideaway bed?
While many companies make various styles of “Murphy Beds,” the concept remains the
same. The differences are seen in the actual mechanism or hardware in terms of appearance
and quality.
Q: Are Murphy Beds comfortable to sleep on?
Definitely! Because a Murphy Bed does not use a folding mattress, like a sofa bed
or a futon, you are able to sleep on a quality mattress that is no different from
any regular bed.
Q: Are Murphy Beds easy to build and install?
Yes! Each system is provided with detailed instructions, which include pictures
and diagrams that will help you build and install your Murphy Bed.
Q: Are Murphy Beds easy to lift up and down?
They are simple and can be opened and closed easily. The spring loaded mechanism
makes certain that the movement is effortless and the counter balanced mechanism
prevents the bed from falling.
Q: Can I use my own mattress?
Yes, any coil-spring mattress up to 10” thick can be used. It is recommended that
you have your mattress onsite when you install your Murphy Bed to ensure the mechanisms
can be properly balanced.
Q: Do I need a box spring?
Certainly not. Box springs have become redundant and many mattress manufactures
have discontinued their use. Doctors have agreed that sleeping on a flat surface
gives better back support.
Q: Can the Murphy Bed be higher off the floor than
normal? (Panel bed systems only)
Yes. The extended leg option allows the bed to be raised 2 ¾” higher off the ground
and accommodates a mattress with a height to 12”.
Q: What is the advantage of using the super springs? (Panel bed systems only)
The “super springs” support an approximate 20% extra weight. They are used in circumstances
where additional features such as face paneling are added to the bed.
Q: Does the bedding and pillows need to be taken off
each time I close the Murphy Bed?
Definitely not. A Velcro strap system is provided to hold the bedding, pillows and
mattress in place while the bed is in the closed position. You can open your Murphy
Bed and not have to worry about making up the bed every time.
Q: Can I take my Murphy Bed when I move?
Yes you can. The bed can be attached to any wall stud with three brackets. The bed
is not mounted to the ground, so it will not damage your floors.

that will guide you through the process. To make your job easier, it is recommended
that you use the Elite or Supreme Frame systems, which will reduce the amount of
woodworking.

The Next Bed can be installed in a closet or in a cabinet.
Q: Do I need a foundation with the Next Bed?
